About City Squire Pub
Located at 1018 Keyes Ave, Schenectady, NY 12309, City Squire Pub operates as a restaurant serving Schenectady in New York. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it. Google also lists it under bar, which is worth knowing if you are comparing several options in the area.
This group covers the non-Asian restaurants, cafes, bars and food businesses that also appear in a mixed-cuisine food scene, including American diners, pizza, Mexican food, burgers, steakhouses and bakeries. Standard US restaurant norms apply: lunch and dinner service with a quieter stretch between, cards and tap-to-pay accepted almost everywhere, and a tip of 15-20% customary for table service. Fast food and quick-service counters expect payment up front and tipping is optional. Bars check ID for anyone who looks under 30, and the drinking age is 21 nationwide. Many restaurants in this group take reservations online through third-party platforms, while casual and fast-food spots are walk-in only. Sales tax is added at the register on top of the menu price and varies by city and state, so the final total is usually a few percent higher than the posted prices suggest.
Hours are published for 6 days a week. The most common schedule is 12β9 pm. Note that it does not open on Monday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (518) 382-1800. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, citysquirepub.com.
Customers rate it 4.4 out of 5 on Google across 461 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded restaurants in Schenectady.
Schenectady is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Schenectady is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across New York's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Wonderful! We booked for a rehearsal dinner. The room was excellent, food was delicious and everything was super easy to set up. We couldn't be happier with how everything turned out.

One & Done visit. Red flag to start with vermouth on the speed rail. Itβs fortified wine, it needs to be refrigerated. Bartender wasnβt aware of a 3:1 martini. Aka 3 parts gin 1 part vermouthβ¦ so itβs apparent They donβt use enough vermouth to not keep it chilled. French onion soup, intentionally ordered with the cheese on the bottom. Meh. Nice color on the onions. Good beef flavor. Lacked in salt & zero sherry flavor present. Fish & Chips- fail. Shoe string fries nice & crispy, zero salt. Fish overcooked, dry, tough. Nice crunch on the batter, lacked flavor and no salt after frying. Simple culinary ruleβ¦ fried food gets salt. Tartar sauce was atrocious. 90% mayo. No acid, herbs, capers, etc. cocktail sauce was reasonable with a good balance of horseradish. Couldβve used more acidity & Worcestershire for depth. Traditionally served with coleslaw, not available. Malt vinegar was available upon request, shouldβve been SOP to bring a bottle with an order of fish & chips. Tennessee style chicken sandwich- has potential. Chix breast was breaded & fried, not dried out. Seasoning was ok. Couldβve been better blended in lard and the breast dipped or painted with the seasoning Nash

We stopped in for brunch on Sunday. It wasn't too busy but may have been a little short staffed. Even so, our waitress/barkeep, was very efficient and kind. We didn't wait long and she had our entire order (changes and additions) without a note memorized. It was impressive we did a build your own. Food was delivered by (a possible owner/manager) also very kind and quick. Overall the experience was great and we found a great brunch spot. Burgers were solid and the French onion soup was incredible. You won't be disappointed!

City Squire is such a gem to have in the neighborhood. The food is always delicious and inventive, and the beer selection is awesome. I love the atmosphere here. Thereβs outdoor eating options when the weather is nice and thereβs always a good crowd. The waitstaff and bartenders are so friendly and personable. Itβs a very welcoming environment. Weβve never had anything to eat that we didnβt like, but Iβd have to say their fried chick peas are our favorite. We also really like the fried chicken sandwich and Squire turkey club. They are huge and bursting with flavor! Overall, City Squire is consistently on point with their food and beverages and a are a reliably great night out any day of the week.
